A quieter way to move

Fourteen mats on a wooden floor in Bandra West. No mirrors, no leaderboard, no playlist you have to shout over.

Since 2018

We cap every class at fourteen. When it is full, it is full.

No extra mat by the door, no squeezing one more in. It is the only way a teacher can actually watch fourteen bodies and say something useful to each of them.

Six styles

01

A student seated in meditation before class

Hatha

Poses held five to ten breaths, with time to adjust and understand them. Nothing rushed, nothing assumed.

75 min · All levels

02

A student bending into a dynamic standing stretch

Vinyasa Flow

One movement per breath. The sequence changes weekly and peaks around the forty-minute mark.

60 min · Some experience

03

Two students settling onto cushions, hands at the heart

Restorative

Five poses in an hour, every one held on props. It looks like doing nothing. It is not doing nothing.

60 min · All levels

04

A pregnant student stretching, hands on her belly

Prenatal

Six mats maximum, taught by a certified prenatal teacher. Modifications given quietly, never announced to the room.

60 min · Max 6

05

A student in silhouette, balanced in tree pose at dusk

Ashtanga

The same sequence, every time. Mysore-style — you move at your own pace, Kabir moves around the room.

75 min · Some experience

06

A student in silhouette, seated in quiet meditation

Yin & Meditation

Long holds on the floor, then ten minutes sitting still. The hardest class for the busiest people.

60 min · All levels

In the room or at home

Every morning class is streamed live.

The recording stays up for a week. Mumbai traffic should not be the reason you skip a practice — and the teacher can still see you and correct you.

04 — Teachers

Four people, on purpose

A small roster means you get the same teacher week after week, and they learn how your body actually moves rather than how it looks from the front of the room.

Aditi Menon, founder and Hatha teacher

01

Aditi Menon

Hatha · Founder

Taught in other people's studios for twelve years before opening Prana Loft in 2018, largely because she was tired of classes of thirty. Teaches Hatha the way she was taught it in Rishikesh — slowly, with a lot of attention to the feet.

The person to talk to if you are coming back from an injury.

  • E-RYT 500, Yoga Alliance
  • Yoga therapy, lower back & SI joint — 200 hrs
  • Teaching since 2011
Kabir Rane, Vinyasa Flow teacher

02

Kabir Rane

Vinyasa Flow

Spent three years practising Ashtanga in Mysore and still keeps a six-day week of his own. His flow classes are properly demanding and he does not pretend otherwise, but he will always give you a smaller option.

Sequences a new class every week and writes them in a notebook he will show you if you ask.

  • RYT 500, Yoga Alliance
  • Ashtanga Level 2 authorisation, Mysore
  • Teaching since 2016
Meher Dastur, restorative and prenatal teacher

03

Meher Dastur

Restorative · Prenatal

Came to yoga through physiotherapy and it shows — she knows exactly which prop will make a pose work for your particular hips. Runs both the restorative programme and every prenatal class.

Has taught more than two hundred pregnancies through to delivery and is unbothered by anything you might ask her.

  • RPYT prenatal certification, 85 hrs
  • Restorative & Yin — 300 hrs
  • BPT, physiotherapy
  • Teaching since 2014
Ishaan Kulkarni, early-morning Hatha teacher

04

Ishaan Kulkarni

Hatha · Early mornings

Teaches the 6.30 am classes before going to his job as an architect, which tells you most of what you need to know about him. Quiet, precise, ends exactly on time.

A good first teacher if the idea of a yoga class makes you self-conscious.

  • RYT 200, Yoga Alliance
  • Pranayama & breathwork — 100 hrs
  • Teaching since 2020
